About the Ovarian Aging (OVA) Longitudinal Study

The original OVA cohort study conducted by Dr. Marcelle Cedars began in 2006 and enrolled 1100 healthy and regular-cycling women between the ages of 25-45 with the aim to develop clinical and genetic markers of ovarian aging. To ensure that the OVA cohort is representative of the San Francisco community, we enrolled an equal proportion of participants across the 4 major racial groups: White/Caucasian, Black/African-America, Hispanic/Latina, and Asian/Pacific Islander. This unique distribution of participants still marks the OVA cohort as one of the largest and most diverse study populations to date.
